How to completely erase your hard disk drive

When and why do i have do erase my hard disk drive?

For example if you bought a new computer and plan to sell your old one, Or if you just want to sell your computer. Even if you have deleted your data from this computer, Remember that those files are still there in the hard drive which means that anyone that buys this computer can find it if they are really interested in finding it.

So it is very important to backup your data and completely erase the hard drive, because this data could be used against you, This data could put some cash in someone's else pocket and make your life miserable.

But it's up to you, You can leave it if you feels there's nothing necessary to be erased from the hard drive.

If you feels that you want to completely erase your hard drive:

Warning! This will completely erase everything from the hard drive and nothing will be recovered!

Go to dban.org and download the Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN")

You have to decide whether you want to download the ISO or EXE file of dban.

The ISO is for cd CD-R/CD-RW or DVD-R/DVD-RW

And the EXE is for floppy disk or USB flash drive.

But before you do anything read the Documentation from the dban website to fully understand it before attempting to erase your hard drive with dban.

Note: You can also completely erased a used computer you purchased.
